May 2009

It was graduation month at Southport High, and once again I was elected valedictorian. This should tell you alot when a dead fox hold's the highest GPA at a bar. And now it is time for my keynote address. We started the month by finishing off our Jazz Fest with Friday and Saturday shows with one of the best bands that play here on a yearly basis, The Subdudes. Both shows went great as always, honestly the dudes always bring in their A game for these shows. Our final show we had The Iguana's here on Sunday night to round out our best Jazz Fest in our five and a half years of operation. Once again thank you to all the tourist and locals who came out and supported us and all the great music around the city for those 2 weeks.

Southport Hall also graduated in May from our Crawfish Boil Parties. Here's a quick thanks to everyone. Jacob Mattix and Family from Mattix Cabinets, Mrs. Naomi and the crew from Eustis Mortage Company, Danny and Linda from LAMMICO Insurance, Rachel Maddox and the Haydel family form Medical Rehab, Dr. George and the staff of Premier Medical Rehab, Mrs. Cathy and entire group of Landis Construction Company, Mrs. Charmaine and all the people of Riverland Credit Union who survived a monsoon outside and still had a great time, and finally Mrs. Pam and Mr. Frank of N-Y and Associates.

On our regular party circuit, thanks to Natalie and the Andrew Jackson Class of "99, Phillip and Rummel's Class of '99, Pam and Melanie for Chapelle's Volunteers party, Renee LaLa and happy birthday to her daughter Bella, and Mrs. JoAnn and Mr. Rick a.k.a. James Bond for their event. And christina and the U.S. Coast Guard. Southport also welcomed their favorite Charity group from Children's Hospital and a special thanks to all the Saints players who participated in the event. We also had a fundraiser for the families who lost everything in the terrible earthquake in Italy. Their was over 600 people here for that great cause (I've never seen that much wine or starches consumed in my dead taxidermed after life).

Mt. Carmel Academy, Jesuit High School and The Academy of the Sacred Heart all held their after graduation parties with us. They all went superb and a special thanks to all the Mom's who devoted their time to give their kids and event to remember on that special day. Thanks to all of you for letting this fox be a part of it. On the band arena this month, the boys and girls form Ratt Poison rocked it out as always. The crew from Yeah You Right and Six Pack Deep pounded out their high energy shows. And our two heavyweight contenders the Molly's and Chee-Weez packed the place as always. If you missed those two shows you will be waiting a while because they both won't be back to Southport till August.
